Postpartum Doula

So Im getting closer to completing my certification of a Postpartum Doula.

Nutrition and Newborns and Postpartum moms go together like bread and butter! How about Sourdough or sprouted 7 grain.

Its such an honour to help moms and babies.

Keep your newborn warm. Warm baths with large receiving blanket on top of baby is always a winner.

Baby probiotics are very helpful...

Write to me for more tips.

Love to all.

Holidays and Weight

With the Holidays approaching weight gain is on everyone's mind.

There are many diets out there, that might work on a temporary basis.
The best way is to educate ourselves about our body and learn how we can boost our metabolism naturally.

B. Vitamins are crucial for optimal health, handling stress, assist your body with carbohydrate metabolism and are crucial in working as a team member to weight control.

Detoxifying your body is another easy way to help control weight.
Lemon water first thing in the morning will help flush out unwanted toxins from the body
helps stimulate bowel movements and aids in weight loss.

Parsley also detoxifies the blood and aids in weight control

Keeping the glycemic level balanced throughout the day will assist with weight control.
schizandra berries and matcha powder will assist in this area.

Steel cut oats, barley, and broccoli will have high chromium which will keep glycemic levels balanced.

Adding more fibre will assist in losing weight as well.

A healthy lifestyle is the best holistic approach to losing weight and to maintain it.

Urinary Tract Infections

Summer is the season for UTI infections.

Do you know how diet can affect this viscous cycle.
It creates Havoc in the elderly
This summer I had quite a few clients with infections.
Together we changed the diet, alkalized the PH level
added some great foods to the plate and what a dramatic change we saw.
I had two  physicians support and applaud my work.
this was quite rewarding.

baked chocolate doughnuts

1 cup flour(s) of your choice (I did half almond, half  white whole wheat).
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2.5 tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 cup milk of your choice (I used almond milk)
1/4 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
Preheat oven to 400 and spray or grease a donut pan or mini-muffin pan.
Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda. Stir in the rest of the dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl, whisk all wet ingredients. (if your coconut oil is clumpy, melt it slightly).
Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
Fill doughnut pan, (don’t fill batter higher than 3/4 of the way up).
Bake for 5-7 minutes (possibly a bit longer if you are not using a regular sized doughnut pan). Doughnuts are done when they are puffed up in the oven. Be careful not to over-bake, especially if you’re making mini’s. They bake quick.
ice them with cocoa and icing sugar and a little coffee .... yumm..
